Education Water Security & Conservation Fair
Water Security and Conservation FairReal Action...Real Change!
Imagine empowering your students to bring together the Science, Writing and Leadership skills you are teaching with the money and resources to put their Creativity into Action!
The 2012 Water Security and Conservation Fair is a competition that will help you do this!
This year's competition is NOW OPEN!
So, WHAT HAPPENS?
Students start NOW to come up with creative ways to work on a Real Problem. Teams or Classes explore new and existing avenues to work on issues surrounding Water Security and Conservation and how they can get involved!
A Water Security and Conservation Fair Project could even serve as a science project for a single or pair of students or as an alternate project for a team of students.
Fall 2011
Teams come up with an idea and let us know so we can assign an advisor to each team.
Winter 2012
The team creates a Plan and Presentation for Real Action and Real Change.
March 2012
Teams present their projects at a Science-Fair style event on World Water Day 2012. The successful teams get funding to move forward on their project.
Imagine ... a School Project that can result in practical application and action the school and students can be proud of!
Let's get started!
If your students need help, Denise Hennebury is excited to come to the schools and lead an "Ideas to Go" session. Denise will help students brainstorm about water issues in their community and ways that a team of High School students can make a real difference! The sessions can be booked for class time (and can be adapted if there are specific outcomes needed) or during a lunch time session or after school meeting.
There are two categories:
Class Team - a curriculum centered project where the teacher mentor directs some of the process for the project. However the students are expected to do the work and the write-ups.
Student Team/ Individual - a student centered project where the teacher mentor is an advisor only, the team could be an environmental club, a youth group or just one or more passionate students on a mission!
To start, review the Water Fair Package - one of the five documents listed on the right information bar - to obtain detailed information.
